Oculus has introduced new social features to the Samsung Gear VR, delivering users further virtual reality interaction with friends.Users can create a profile and search for friends on the platform, with Oculus also adding the ability to create rooms with friends in Oculus Social, allowing users watch Twitch or Vimeo streams in a room with people they know.
Two new social games, allowing users to team up with friends, are also landing on the Gear VR in the form of Social Trivia and Herobound: Gladiators.
Social Trivia tests the knowledge of up to five players, while Herobound: Gladiators, a multiplayer adventure game, allows users to join with up to four others “to conquer goblins and demons in arena battlefields”, using integrated voice chat to talk and strategise in real time.
Meanwhile, Oculus has added a new Facebook Videos tab to Oculus Video.
Starting next week, users will be able to connect their Facebook account with Oculus Video, personalising their 360 video feed based on the pages and people followed.
In the coming weeks, users will be also able to like and share Facebook 360 videos from within VR.
