Samsung has started to roll out their ES 8000 series Smart TVs and have also said that the will launch a Google TV in the second half of 2012.The new ES 8000 Smart TVs allows owners to upgrade to a new processor when they become available due to the introduction of what is being called an “Evolution Kit,” which is built into the back of the TV.
The smart TV which went on sale in Korea yesterday will be launched in Australia in March 2012.
The new “Evolution Kit” enables the upgrade of key features like the TV processor by replacing it with a new one beginning next year, said Kim Hyun-suk, executive vice president for visual display at Samsung.
The new TV also has facial, voice and motion recognition and later this year’s consumers will be able to buy a voice activated remote control.
“The firm’s flat-screen TV sales target for this year is 50 million units and half of that is estimated to be smart TVs,” Kim Hyun-suk said.
Hyun-suk also said that Samsung plans to release their new Google TV by the end of this year after finalising talks with Google.
