Sharp has launched a Blu ray HD LCD TV Comb that will be available in multiple sizes. All of the new models will get an integrated HDTV tuner, bottom-mounted speaker as well as a Blu-ray player mounted into the rear of the screen.
Due to be available in a range of sizes, including 26-inches, 32-inches, 37-inches, 42-inches, 46-inches and 52-inches the Aquos range is already on sale in Japan. It is not known yet whether the product will be sold in Australia.
During the past 12 months Sharp have struggled in the Australian market despite them being an award winning manufacturer who make LCD TV for the likes of Toshiba, Pioneer and Panasonic.
“At a time that competition is tough and the atmosphere bad, we want to differentiate ourselves by offering customers products that are of great quality but simple to use,” Sharp chief executive Mikio Katayama told reporters in Japan.
The new Aquos “DX series” means a customer does not need to buy a separate DVD player or recorder, although the DVD unit can still come out of the television if there is a need for repair.
