Nexus Not Now: Optus Tails Telstra’s Samsung Galaxy

Yesterday Telstra. Today Optus gets its money’s worth on Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus running Ice Cream Sandwich.
One of the most anticipated smartphones of the year, Samsung Galaxy Nexus on Android 4.0 is to go on sale at Telstra tommorrow,  announced yesterday, while Optus has come quickly running with its deals and are having a pre-sale, starting today.

The new 4.65″ HD Super AMOLED display Galaxy showcases the ‘pure Google experience’ for users, and runs a powerful 1.2 Ghz dual core processor.

However, pre-ordered Nexus’ from Optus wont be delivered until 20 December for Metro areas and on 21, 22nd for Regional Australia, meaning arch rivals Telstra has managed to nab the exclusive on this one, for now.

Optus has several Nexus plans on offer: including $0 upfront on a $79 Optus Cap Plan or $5 per month on a $59 plan or even a $29 cap (+ $16) with 200MB data.

SMBs can get Nexus on a $79 Business Timeless Plan and $0 upfront with unlimited standard national calls and texts to mobile, fixed line and 1GB of data.

Important documents and content featuring on the phone and PC can be stored and accessed on the go with Optus Smart Safe and business customers will enjoy a 500MB allowance with all Business plans, the telco said today.

Nexus from Telstra starts at $59 on Freedom Connect plus $10 for the phone, and is $5 more expensive than the Optus equivalent, but comes with $550 worth of calls, unlimited standard national text and 1.5GB of data, while its business plans also start at $59 for the Business Mobile Maximiser plus $10 handset fee.
