The Nine Network, who tried to stifle the Ice TV EPG and who often brags about their news prowess over the Seven Network, has deliberately stifled one of the biggest stories of the day because of a commercial relationship with Qantas.
The Network has admitted that it censored its 5am news bulletin to avoid mentioning the crash of an Air France Airbus 300 which is an aircraft that is also flown by Qantas, who are a major Nine Network advertiser and the sponsor of the 5.00am bulletin.
According to Mumbrella, the network’s first bulletin of the day had no mention of the disappearance of the flight off the coast of Brazil, despite it being a major story in other Australian media.
A spokesman for Nine sent a brief email to Mumbrella saying: “We never report news involving plane incidents on Qantas inflight news bulletins.”
