Reggie Fils-Aime, President of Nintendo of America has let slip that Nintendo has some “big surprises” coming and hinted at the possibility of a major product launch after the US Thanksgiving holiday.
During a business interview in the US he said “For us, we believe that between the Wii and the DS, these are the key products that are going to drive our pipeline now through the end of next year, and for us it’s about bringing great new experiences in terms of the software. And we certainly have some new surprises there, but we’ll wait until after the holiday to share those.”
The answer came after he was asked “Are there any new product announcements coming in the next year? Big announcements?” asks Fox Business anchor Brian Sullivan.
Analysts claim that the reply indicates that Nintendo will be focusing on gaming innovations to get the most out of its existing hardware over the next year, even as Microsoft and Sony make moves to introduce their own motion-sensitive controllers and devices, catching up to (or surpassing?) the functionality of the Wii.
Nintendo has also announced that they are offer an alternative Wii Sports Resort package that comes with two Wii MotionPlus accessories. The standard Wii Sports Resort comes bundle comes with one Wii MotionPlus remote.
