Nintendo’s Switch gaming console has gotten another retro-themed aftermarket accessory in the form of 8bitdo’s NES30 Pro Controller.
Arriving with all the old-school aesthetics of the classic Nintendo Entertainment System and full compatibility with Nintendo’s latest home console, 8Bitdo say “inspired by the most powerful weapon in Konami’s 2D masterpiece, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, we designed the Pro controllers to be the most powerful portable controller available.”
According to them, “the Pro controllers aren’t just full-sized wireless bluetooth game controllers – they were designed with respect for the classics. We paid extra attention to the most critical characteristics like the D-PAD, to make sure it feels exactly like you remember it.”
While the looks on offer here are the biggest selling point, 8Bitdo’s NES30 Pro Controller also comes with more base-line compatibility than Nintendo’s own offering.
The accessory is able to be used for gaming on Windows, Android, macOS, Steam titles as well as Nintendo Switch.
Additional support is also said to be in the works for use with the PS3, Wii U, and Google’s Raspberry Pi.
