Recent reports reveal Nintendo has filed a trademark for a device closely resembling its original Game Boy.
Ninten-Switch first noticed the trademark, which features an image of the highly recognisable original Game Boy design.
The trademark surrounding the original Game Boy covers a variety of applications – from home video game machines to smartphone cases.
The news follows Nintendo’s launch of its NES Classic mini console at the end of last year. Previous reports also suggest the company may be resurrecting its N64 also.
A similar move came prior to Nintendo’s release of its NES Classic and Super NES Classic.
The new trademark pursuit fuels speculation Nintendo could be planning a Classic version of its revered Game Boy.
