The next iPad won’t be the iPad 3. Instead it will be called the iPad HD, flaunting the device’s high resolution screen.
According to a CNet report, Apple’s next iPad will be called the iPad HD, citing a source who “previously provided reliable information with respect to things Apple.” As pointed out, the report coincides with one from Gizmodo who all allege the new iPad will don an ‘HD’ moniker.
Apple has a history of appending such titles on moderately improved products. A quick glance at its iPhone history proves this, with the iPhone 3G being upgraded to a 3G s, as was its iPhone 4 to the iPhone 4S.
The reports have surfaced a day or so ahead of Apple’s launch event (March 7th). The event’s invite features the provocative tag line “We have something you really have to see. And touch,” along with a close up of what appears to be an iPad.
