Microsoft has no plans to launch their new Kin phones in Australia claims Kevin Brough Director of Communications for the US Company.
The two phones, dubbed Kin One and Kin Two, were designed by Microsoft with touch-sensing screens and slide-out physical keyboards. They will be offered in the U.S only.
“We have no plans to launch these phones in Australia. They are designed specifically for the US market. We also know of no carrier planning to launch the phones” said Brough.
The phones are part of a broader plan by Microsoft to stimulate its mobile-phone business, by getting more involved in the overall design of handsets.
In the past the company largely stayed out of the hardware side of the business, making an operating system called Windows Mobile that handset makers installed on their devices.
Microsoft has lost ground in recent years as long time partner HTC moved to manufacturing Google Android based phones.
