Sony has stalled the launch of Gran Turismo 5 with speculation mounting that the new game could be released in full 3D. It is now expected that the popular game will be released in November in time for the peak Xmas buying period.Originally Sony said that Japan was to get the game in March 2010 and the rst of the world would get the game by June, but now both releases are postponed indefinitely, due to production issues. On the GT5 website, Sony says, “We apologise for any inconvenience.”
The London Times hypothesises that this is actually a strategic move by Sony. With the recent popularity of Final Fantasy XXIII in Japan, Sony sold a lot of PS3 consoles. A delay in the release of GT5 could let the company plan to boost sales in the 2010 fiscal year.
Inside Line says: “Sony’s Polyphony Digital has already spent an estimated $60 million developing the game, so it’s no wonder that the company is looking for the perfect moment to release it.”
