Luxottica and Intel have launched their Radar Pace Oakley-branded smart eyewear, equipped with a real-time voice-activated coaching system.Luxottica brand Oakley and Intel teamed up to create the Radar Pace sunglasses, which are designed to equip athletes with information and real-time feedback.
The Radar Pace are a virtual coach, supporting “athletes during every step of their running and cycling training journey”, Luxottica states.
They interpret data in real-time, provide personalised and actionable instruction and motivation during a workout, with athletes held accountable to a structured and dynamic training program.
Decked out with a hands-free conversational interface powered by Intel Real Speech, the Radar Pace also sport a Bluetooth audio headset, providing for placing and receiving of calls and texts and listening to music.
Utilising external sensors and the Radar Pace app (for Android and iOS), the Radar Pace collect and analyse performance data such as power output, heart rate, speed, cadence, time, pace and distance, and create a training program for athletes of all types.
“By interpreting data in real-time and providing personalised instruction and motivation based on performance, the eyewear holds athletes accountable to a structured and dynamic training program, seeking to transform how athletes track and understand performance,” Luxottica states.

Voice interaction allows users to ask the Radar Pace questions, receiving real-time feedback, with it being “intuitive, natural and hands-free, so athletes can communicate with the system in a live, natural way during workouts”.
The Radar Pace are to be distributed in North America, Australia and Europe.
