Optus has today unveiled a new offer designed to let users pool and share data across eligible mobile broadband and mobile devices.Whereas previously only data-only devices such as tablets and dongles could share data from a linked mobile plan, Optus customers using tablets, phones and dongles can now combine selected postpaid mobile broadband or mobile plans onto the one bill, sharing data from each plan in a “data pool”.
Optus has tailored plans for families and small and medium businesses, with Ben White, Optus vice president, mobile marketing, noting sharing helps in monitoring data usage.
“Sharing from one data pool means you only have one bill and keeping track of data usage is so much simpler,” White commented.
“Now, if mum doesn’t use all the data from her mobile phone plan, she doesn’t need to hand over her phone when the kids have already finished the data in their tablet, it’s already in the pool ready to share on their own devices.”
Optus has additionally upped the data under its $60 My Mobile Broadband Plus plan to 12 GB per month on a 12 or 24-month contract, or under a month-to-month plan, along with introducing a new $10 My Mobile Broadband Plus plan, which, at $10 a month on a month-to-month plan, provides customers 1.5 GB.
Meanwhile, existing account holders with an active 12 or 24-month mobile or mobile broadband plan who add a new iPhone or iPad on a 24-month plan to their account will receive a $150 one-off credit, with users adding up to five additional iPhones or iPads on plans receiving credit of up to $750.
The offer runs from August 3 until October 5 – further information can be found here.
