As of 8.30 this morning there are major network problems for Optus mobile and landline customers throughout Queensland and some parts of NSW, affecting voice and broadband services.

A statement from Optus in Queensland noted that at “approximately 8.00am this morning, a fibre optic cable was broken on the Gold Coast which affected services in Queensland”.
Although services are expected to be normalised within the next hour according to Optus, fixed line voice calls to and from Queensland, mobile services for customers based in Queensland, Internet browsing for Queensland customers to servers outside Queensland have all been affected for most of this morning.
There are also reports coming in that the 3-Network is also having some technical issues.
