It is the first time the famous Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras extravaganza will come out to the world via Optus online Mardi Gras TV, which goes live February 27.
The web channel will feature content from the three week festival, including footage from Fair Day and Harbour Party, an “exclusive” interview with a high profile guest artist (could that be Kylie?) and festival highlights, which kicked off Feb 12 ’til 04 March.
Optus Mardis Gras TV will also feature an exclusive one hour special of the Mardi Gras 2012 parade from Sunday 4 March.
Visitors to Mardi Gras TV will also be offered the chance to enter a competition to win an ultimate Sydney Mardi Gras weekend experience.
This latest move “builds on our digital partnership with the ARIAs, whichsaw us bring exclusive behind the scenes content to our customers via mobile, as well as our digital partnershipwith Football Federation Australia.” said Michael Smith, Managing Director, Optus Consumer.
Michael Rolik, CEO of Sydney Mardi Gras said the partnership with Optus provides an “amazing opportunity” to share Mardi Gras with a global audience.
“While Mardi Gras attracts more than 20,000 visitors to Sydney every year, this year for the first time viewers from around the world will be able to tune in and share the celebrations and excitement of our GLBTQI communityParade and festival.”
Optus employees will participate in the event with The Mad Hatters Tea Party float.
