Lighting manufacturer Osram has launched what it claims to be an environmentally friendly replacement for the common incandescent light bulb.
The new Halogen Energy Saver range is a world-first, the company says, and comes in preparation for the planned phase out of incandescent light bulbs in Australia by October 2009.

The Energy Saver claims to last about twice as long as an incandescent bulb, equating to about 30 percent less electricity. Osram says its new range is also made with eco-friendly materials, including 20 percent recycled glass – they are also recyclable and contain no mercury.
The range is available in different shapes and prices start from RRP $2.99 for the Halogen Energy Saver Classic Shape.
