Sony just announced pricing for PS4. But surprise, surprise, its $150 pricer than the US
Sony’s PS 4 will launch on November 29, 2013 in Europe and Australia, it has today confirmed.
It will sell in Australia for an RRP of $549 including GST, compared with US$399 (A$440 before tax) in the US and similar pricing in Europe.
First revealed in February, PS4 will have an 8-core x86 processor, “enhanced GPU”, 8 GB of unified GDDR5 memory, hard drive, and a secondary custom chip to handle social features and uploads/downloads. It will launch first in the US on 15 November.

That price was apparently chosen to undercut the US$499 pricetag Microsoft has put on its forthcoming Xbox One console.
Sony has also said the PS4 won’t implement the most unpopular aspects of Microsoft’s rights-management restrictions, including daily Internet check-ins, user authentication rules and restrictions on the ability to share game discs with friends.

The Xbox 1 is to be launched in November in 13 international markets, including Australia, New Zealand, Canada, France, Germany, the UK and USA.
The new Playstation was introduced at Gamescon, a videogame trade conference in Cologne.
In a statement, Sony said “it will continue to offer breakthrough gaming and entertainment experiences to users by further enriching the services available on PS4 such as PSNSM and PlayStation Plus 2, a membership service offering members exclusive content and features, while enhancing the PS4 system itself through future system software updates.
“As part of this initiative, PS4 will support Twitch, a live internet streaming service devoted to video gaming.”
