And actual speeds experienced Down Under are, on average, only 62.4 percent of advertised speeds, despite recent crackdowns by the ACCC on advertising of unachievable Net speeds.
These results, published in The Wall Street Journal, are drawn from a survey by US firm Ookla and its subsidiaryies Speedtest.net and Pingtest.net.
They show Lithuania as the fastest Internet nation, at a mean 31.89Mbps, and delivering 99.6 percent of promised speed. Sweden is in fourth spot at 26.23Mbps; Iceland 10th at 21.95Mbps; Singapore 14th at 18.76Mbps; the USA 33rd at 12.29Mbps and the UK 48th at 11.48Mbps.
