In a late breaking story SmartHouse News has been able to confirm that PAL markets including Australia and the UK will get a PS3 price cut on July 12th.
The Managing Director of Sony Computer Entertainment in Australia, Michael Ephraim, has confirmed that a PAL market announcement will be made on July 12 2007 regarding price cuts to the PAL market PS3.
It is expected that the PAL market Sony PS3 models, which are among the most expensive in the world, will be cut by as much as 17%. This will bring the Australian model down to $829.00. It is also anticipated that a new Sony PS 3 model will be launched with a larger hard drive.
“We will be making an announcement on the 12th about the price cuts to PAL market models. I cannot say what those price cuts will be but they will be in line or close to the US price cuts,” Ephraim said.
The news came as Microsoft in Australia refuses to give out any information on the warranty problems affecting the Xbox 360. It is now five days since Microsoft announced a $1.3 billion dollar charge to handle “Red Ring Of Death” problems with the Xbox 360.
