Panasonic has announced its current lineup of Blu-ray and DVD Recorders are now compatible with HbbTV, plus any customers who have one of these recorders need only connect them to the Internet and they will receive the upgrade automatically.
The Panasonic DMR-BWT740 Blu-Ray Recorder, the DMR-XW440 DVD Recorder and the DMR-PWT540 Blu-Ray Disc Player now have HbbTV version 1.5 compatibility. This functionality is also available on the company’s
recently released DMR-BWT945 Triple Tuner Blu-ray Recorder.
HbbTV enabled products provide consumers with access to Australia’s Hybrid Broadcast Broadband TV (HbbTV) services as provided by terrestrial broadcasters, when they are connected to the Internet. Director of Panasonic Consumer Electronics Group, Richard Tassone said: “This upgrade is very convenient for users, as they don’t need a HbbTV-compatible TV to access the platform, just their current Panasonic Recorder.”
