A new fully-rugged Android tablet from Panasonic is aiming to replace consumer grade devices that are unsuitable for many workplaces.
The 10.1-inch Toughpad FZ-A2 features military grade capabilities, including protection against drops, shocks and vibration, as well as heat, cold, dust and rain. Panasonic suggests these capabilities will make the Toughpad a more suitable device across a wide range of work applications and environments.
“More and more workers are working outside traditional office environments to get closer to their customers,” said Stuart Buxton, Senior Product Manager for Toughbook at Panasonic.
84 per cent of Australian organisations have staff who work outside the traditional office environment, typically using consumer grade smartphone and tablet devices. Research commissioned by Panasonic suggests consumer tablets are up to four times more likely to fail annually than rugged enterprise tablets.
“By launching the new Toughpad, we’re helping a wide range of organisations who haven’t traditionally used fully rugged devices to boost productivity, minimise downtime, slash field failure rates and reduce Total Cost of Ownership,” said Mr Buxton.
The Touchpad FZ-A2 features a quad core Intel Atom processor, with 4GB RAM and 32GB internal eMMC storage. The device can withstand drops of up to 1.2 metres, dust and water spills with an IP65 rating, and features an operating temperature range of -10 to 50 degrees Celsius. The display is built to be easily readable in daylight, and can be used in the rain or while wearing gloves.
Panasonic’s Touchpad FZ-A2 is available now for RRP $2199.
