The Panasonic LUMIX range of compact cameras were the best seller in the compact camera market over the last year, according to GfK data. The LUMIX range of compact cameras (excluding DSLR) began with four models in 2002, increasing to 21 today that are topping sales value.
The TZ series of compact LUMIX cameras goes up against the likes of Canon’s PowerShot cameras and Samsung’s WB650, which are notably cheaper for an almost identical product. While the LUMIX compact range see prices of up to $800, competitors have similar models at $100-$200 cheaper.
Group Marketing Manager of LUMIX in Australia, Alistair Robins, expects the growth in sales to continue through 2011.
The sales growth could have been spring boarded by an extensive Panasonic media campaign featuring TV ad spots and magazine advertising.
