Panasonic has today issued a statement regarding its Wii Promotion in 2008.In an e-mail sent to Smarthouse, the company said:
Earlier this week the Federal Court found that Panasonic had not adequately disclosed some of the terms and conditions of the redemption program in the 2008 Wii Promotion.
Steve Rust, Managing Director, Panasonic Australia said “We were pleased that the Court recognised that Panasonic’s contravention was accidental. Panasonic is always concerned about the interests of the consumer and many of the Court’s recommendations have already been implemented during the past 18 months.”
Panasonic will appoint an internal compliance officer to develop a compliance policy, a complaints handling system and a training program for staff.
“Panasonic has run several successful redemption programs since the 2008 Wii promotion and we will work hard to ensure a similar situation does not arise in the future” Mr Rust said.
