As tipped by ChannelNews last month, a recall has been issued here in Australia for the Panasonic CF-H2 Tablet’s rechargeable battery pack because it may overheat and pose a fire or burn hazard.
Last month we reported that in total, Panasonic has recalled 314,926 battery packs worldwide this year. See more here.
The battery packs recalled in Australia today have been on sale nationally since 1st June 2011 up until 30th June this year. The packs have been sold nationally by J Mills Distribution and Multi Media Technology – both distributors of Panasonic Toughbook Computer Products.

If you have one of these CF-H2 tablet computers, you are advised to turn if off immediately and inspect it to see if it contains the defective battery with the part number CF-VZSU53AW and with any of these manufacturing lot numbers – B, C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, C6, C7, C8, C93, C94, C96, C9C, C9J, C9K. (The lot number can be found on the sticker attached to the battery).
If it does, remove the battery (there are normally two per tablet) and only use the tablet with the AC Adapter and power cord from the mains power until the battery is replaced.
Consumers should contact Panasonic to determine if their product is affected and to arrange two free replacement batteries.
