After 56 years in the television market Panasonic has been the first company to produce 300 million units, which rolled off the production line this month.
It took the company 32 years to reach its first 100 million, 10 years for the second 100 million and 10 years for the second million. Just over 105 million units were under the National brand, will the remaining 195 million were Panasonic.
This milestone was reaches just as the name Panasonic has finally changed its corporate name to Panasonic Corp from Matsushita at the beginning of this month.
Panasonic started making black-and-white TVs in November 1952, one year before full-scale television broadcasting began in Japan. In 1960, the company became the first manufacturer of colour TVs in Japan.
