Recall on Toughbook battery after safety concerns.Panasonic warn customers about the battery in the Toughbook CF-H2 tablet overheating, and may catch fire.
The battery on the tablet, manufactured from June 2011 – May 2012, may overheat and ignite in some circumstances.
In Australia, an estimated 548 computers and 90 battery packs are affected, a spokesperson told CN.
“We recently became aware of the fact that, due to problems in manufacturing, battery packs included with our Tablet-PC CF-H2 series manufactured from June 2011 through May 2012 and those sold separately or as a result of servicing may heat up abnormally and ignite in a rare instance,” the company wrote on its website.
“There is a risk that the battery pack may overheat and cause smoke or may ignite posing the risk of fire or burn hazard to consumers and to the CF-H2 Panasonic Tablet.”
Toughbook owners should check the model number and lot number of Tablet and battery pack. Lot Numbers affected are: B6NA, B6YA, B71A, B74A, B75A, B76A, B7CA, B7VA, B83A, BBGA, BBHA, BBJA, BBW.
The model number of the faulty Battery Pack is: CF-VZSU53AW, made between June 2011 to May 2012.

Panasonic will replace the battery packs free of charge.
“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused,” the company said.
