A leading PC maker is set to invest millions into Japanese HiFi Company Onkyo, whose products are distributed in Australia by Amber Technology.Inventec, which make PCs and notebooks in Japan, has announced plans to invest $7.3 million into Onkyo, which is believed to be struggling due to the economic downturn.
The investment will allow Inventec to receive 4.58 million common stocks from Onkyo, a 9.6 per cent stake in the company.
Inventec vice president of finance Alexander Hsu pointed out the company already has a partnership with Onkyo and the investment will further strengthen the two firms’ cooperation and vertical integration.
Hsu also noted that Onkyo’s speakers will become the priority component choice for Inventec’s notebooks and all-in-one PC products in the future.
