Periscope has marked its one-year anniversary, with the live-streaming service having reached 200 million broadcasts.Twitter-owned Periscope advised via a blog post at Medium that the 200 million broadcasts had been created, with over 110 years of live video watched every day on iOS and Android.
Live-streaming has been attracting significant interest, with competition in the market set to intensify this year.
Facebook earlier in the year embarked on the expansion of its live-streaming service, bringing it to markets around the world.
Meanwhile, last week it was reported by VentureBeat that Google has been developing a live-streaming app called YouTube Connect, which will be available for both Android and iOS devices.
Earlier in the year, Periscope and GoPro teamed up, allowing users to live-stream from GoPro Hero4 Black or Silver cameras.
In August last year, Periscope had advised that it had surpassed 10 million accounts, stating at the time that it was seeing over 40 years of video watched per day.
