Mio’s brand new A701 product could easily be called the ‘Swiss Army knife’ of electronic devices – offering a high-end mobile phone, a GPS unit and PDA all in one.
And the functionality doesn’t stop there – the A701 also features an MP3 player, a camera with 8x digital zoom and a movie player.
The main strength of the unit is its GPS functionality. It comes pre-loaded with hundreds of thousands of points of interests around the country such as service stations, post offices and major tourist attractions.
For example, if you are looking for a particular type of food, you can type it into the A701 and it will automatically display the closest restaurants that serve that type of food.
If you are traveling overseas you can also replace the SD card with the card for the country you are travelling to.
The device runs on Windows Mobile 5.0 and provides access to the Internet as well as the Windows Office suite.
It even comes equipped with a ‘location call’ function in case of an emergency. You preset who you want to receive an emergency SMS containing your location if you are in trouble.
The A701 retails for $1299. More information is at www.mio-tech.com.au
