Pioneer Electronics Australia has followed Sony by announcing mass sackings in Australia the move is part of a major restructure.
In an announcement late last night Pioneer said that it has sacked 19 staff, and that the move follows the Companies recent exit from the plasma TV market.
The Company has also announced the appointment of Chris Kotis to head up a merged Home Electronics and Car Electronics Group. Kotis was previously national sales manager of the car electronics group and has been with Pioneer for over 5 years.
“In the wake of setting new fiscal goals and strategies for the business, Pioneer Electronics Australia has initiated structural changes, which has resulted in 19 employees being made redundant.”, said MD, Toshio Izumi. “It is important that we are prepared for the exit from plasma which will occur around September. Without plasma we will become a smaller and more specialised company and we need to be sure our structure is suitable for that change” said Izumi.
“Staff reductions have occurred in all areas of Pioneer’s business in the last few days, and the structure of the sales and marketing group has undergone a total revamp with the previously separate Home Electronics and Car Electronics groups merging” said Izumu.
