Pioneer Unveils New 2010 AV Range

In a press conference conducted by the company in Melbourne, the Pioneer Team showcased new AV receivers, Blu-ray players, speaker systems, audio home theatre in a box, and iPod speaker systems. Pioneer also announced that it will be releasing 3D Blu-ray players this year.

While the SCLX90 AV Receiver will still be sold by Pioneer, it will also introduce a new range with RRPs ranging from $499 to  $2999 from July. The new range are 3D compatible (in some models), offers Bluetooth connectivity (using a dongle), iPhone and iPod connectivity with colour display/album art, and DLNA 1.5. Pioneer explained that DLNA 1.5 allows a user to control music streamed for a computer to an AV receiver using an iPhone or iPad. 

In addition, the company will also be offering an application called iControl AV which turns an iPhone or iPad into an AV receiver remote control.  Controls provided include volume, video input, equaliser adjustments. It can be downloaded from iTunes for free. 

During a demonstration, Tony Trent, head of product planning at Pioneer Electronics Australia, showed the application being able to adjust volume, input, equaliser, and speaker output.

Pioneer Australia’s Head of Product Planning, Tony Trent said, “Content is key, so we try to look where content is going audio-wise. We are seeing growth in digital music purchases, smartphone market, as well as networking products, so we aim to generate excitement in audio again by value adding a couple of features in our products.”

Chris Kotis, General Manager for Sales and Marketing at Pioneer Electronics Australia, said that the company is now entering a new era. 

“Our new focus, new products, and new partnerships show that we are serious in bringing the best experience for users. This is a start of Pioneer’s new new era,” said Kotis.
