Smart TV’s get nod for finger gesture and speech functionsLG Smart TV advanced speech and finger gesture recognition functions have been given a nod by product testers, Underwriters Laboratories (UL).
Its the first time UL has ever given its stamp of approval to specific smart TV features.
The advanced speech and finger gesture functions were praised for their accuracy and speed. The advanced control technology found in LG’s 2014 premium Smart TVs, on show at CES 2014 in Las Vegas next month.
UL assessed the the speed with which speech commands were processed, while finger gesture was measured in terms of movement-tracking accuracy and effectiveness of specialized functions.
“Being the first to receive UL certification for the above mentioned Smart TV features is confirmation of our uniqueness and innovation,” said Lambro Skropidis, General Manager Marketing, LG Australia.
“We are committed to advancing the Smart TV experience to bring greater convenience to people’s lives.”
The advanced gesture recognition functions are likely to be available on LG Smart TV running the new OS in 2014.
The finger gesture feature is also compatible with the built-in camera or LG’s plug-in camera accessory.
