3D Porn movies set to be the next big thing.

 According to DisplaySearch consumers spent more than $30 million on 147,000 Blu-ray players. The report shows the average price for Blu-ray players that week was just more than $200, which is down from almost $400 in 2007.

The 147,000 Blu-ray players sold that week does not include PS3 sales. According to the report, about one in four video disc players sold the week ended Nov. 29 were Blu-ray players, a 6 percent increase from 2007.

Sony and Samsung, selling their cheapest Blu-ray players for $179 and $199, respectively, accounted for 85 percent of these Black Friday sales, which grew despite the current economic situation.

“Blu-ray had a pretty good Black Friday,” says Paul Erickson, DisplaySearch’s director of DVD and HD market research.

 

“This is primarily due to one factor: sub-$200 pricing.” DisplaySearch is forecasting 911,000 Blu-ray players to ship in Q4 and a total of about 2.2 million for 2008.

According to EROS a Porn Industry Association Blu ray content is proving very popular due to better quality shooting and Blu ray playback. Now the industry is looking for a boom in 3D content in 2009.
