Braving Sony’s fire, the LFP Video Group will be releasing the first adult video on the next gen Blu-ray disc format.
With rumours cicculating that Sony is blocking the porn industry from using the Blu-ray format, there has been slow uptake of the format by the adult film industry. However, LFP is apparently unperturbed by this.
In partnership with New Media Adult Entertainment, its first “blue” Blu-ray movie will feature adult star Jenna Haze, and will be available in competing format HD-DVD as well as DVD-WMV.
“LFP leads the way in adult entertainment and it is only fitting that we are the first to market with an adult film in this exciting new format,” says LFP Video Group, LLC , President, Michael H. Klein.
“This release expands the Hustler tradition of breaking new ground with our video titles not only in content, but also by utilizing the latest technology available, so our customers can enjoy superior picture quality,” he added.
The uptake of the VHS format by the porn industry in the 1980s is widely regarded as a key to the format’s success over Betamax, so the uptake of Blu-ray or HD-DVD may have similar implications for the competing next gen HD formats.
