Dvico today announced the imminent release of the TViX M-3100U, a standalone, hard disk player that plays digital media and DVD files to a home entertainment system.
The stand out feature of the TVIX 3100 is that it is a true DVD Jukebox. The TVIX 3100 allows DVDs to be ripped directly to the device, but Daniel Armstrong of distributor Lako Pacific said this is legal because “it’s a backup for personal use, and doesn’t encourage piracy”.
It performs exactly like a DVD player and better still, it doubles as a portable DVD movie library! Unlike other digital media players, TVIX 3100 keeps all the chapters, subtitles, menus, special features and audio qualities from a DVD movie title, allowing full functionality of DVD navigation.
Users are able to plug in an IDE drive of their choice, via the easy-to-install rail system, which allows users to upgrade their capacity when needed.
The product includes a deluxe VFD screen which clearly displays operational status, simultaneous connection to TV and PC, high quality component video output and support for a variety of audio files including MP3, OGG Vorbis, and WMA.
The TViX M-3100U ships in June and the price is yet to be determined.
