Sony has announced that the 2.60 firmware update for the PS3, which is thought to be available from January 22 (tomorrow).The new update is “designed primarily to enhance the system’s media capabilities,” according to the Sony official Playstation blog.
Alongside adding support for DivX 3.11 video clips, the firmware update will also allow users to browse the PlayStation Network Store without having to enter log-in information.
Once installed, the firmware lets players download a “Photo Gallery” application, which offers a host of sorting and minor editing tools to better aid PlayStation 3 devotees in displaying their images via Sony’s console.
