Sony took down its PlayStation Network password reset page after an exploit targeting the site was identified.PSN users who were looking to change their account passwords after the recent hacking debacle that saw millions of account details compromised are being told to change their details on their PS3s rather than on the website.
The exploit, meaning software that targets a glitch that can be used to gain access to data or to change the outcomes of the original software, was identified by Sony and subsequently shut down for a fix.
“Contrary to some reports, there was no hack involved,” said Sony’s Communications Director, Patrick Seybold on his official blog.
“In the process of resetting of passwords there was a URL exploit that we have subsequently fixed.”
