The clue’s in the ‘5’
World Mobile Congress is tipped to be where the new Galaxy S5 is to be ‘unpacked’ on February 24.
Samsung have just sent out an invitation entitled ‘Unpacked 5 2014 Episode 1’, to take place on February 24 at World Mobile Congress in Barcelona.
There may be a clue is in the ‘5’ as to what is being launched, we’re guessing.
The Koreans are said to have hurried up the release of its next flagship smartphone, as demand for Galaxy S4 slips, despite earning the accolade of its fastest-ever selling phone, last year.
The next Galaxy hero is tipped to have everything from eye controls, where you could unlock the phone by just looking at it (similar to what Apple did with iPhone 5s fingerprint sensor), to actually launching two models – “Prime’ and “Standard”, according to reports.
S5 Prime would feature a brighter 5.2″ QHD (Quad HD) screen with 1440 x 2560, same res. as on its Series 9 laptops, with a kick ass 32-bit octa-core Exynos 5430 processor, while ‘Standard’ would have the less powerful (bog standard) 32-bit quad core Snapdragon 800 chip, motoring it.
SamMobile reports Galaxy S5 will have its most powerful ever 16-megapixel camera, run Google Android 4.4 KitKat and may have a metal construction.
A redesigned Galaxy Gear smartwatch will also be released alongside the new Galaxy 5.
Exec VP Samsung mobile, Lee Young Hee already confirmed; “we’ve been announcing our first flagship model in the first half of each year, around March and April, and we are still targeting for release around that time.”
If the ‘unpacked’ prediction on everyone’s lips is correct, then Samsung’s Galaxy Part V could see an Autumn launch down under.
The unpacked event will also be streamed live on YouTube, letting Sammy fans in on the action as it goes down in Spain.
