Gaming accessory brand Razer have pulled out all the stops for their latest flagship gaming headset, the Razer Tiamat V2.
“Today’s games use positional audio extensively, so being able to hear which direction footsteps or shots are coming from is crucial to winning,” says Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder and CEO.
Available in 7.1 and 2.2 variants, the new Tiamat V2 promises to give “gamers pinpoint audio accuracy whether they’re playing intense FPS matches or just want to lose themselves in massive soundscapes to bring their games to life.”
The 7.1 surround sound audio headset arrives with a completely new control unit, set to allow users to set the volume of each audio channel as well as toggle between true 7.1 surround sound and 2.0 stereo audio.
The accessory even boasts a degree of passthrough functionality, allowing gamers with external desktop speaker setups to flick between their Razer Tiamat 7.1 V2 and their speakers at the press of a button.
Meanwhile, when it comes to in-game communication, the Razer Tiamat 7.1 V2 boasts a unidirectional digital boom microphone which rotates alongside the ear cup when not in use.
According to Razer, it “delivers crisp, natural voice in the heat of battle” and comes ready to integrate with the rest of the company’s Chroma products.
Razer’s 2.2 channel alternative features two additional 50 mm subwoofer drivers per ear cup, likely making it a better fit for those who desire a heavier bass.
Both are be available from this week, with the Tiamat 7.1 V2 coming in at an RRP of $349.95 and the Tiamat 2.2 V2 landing a little cheaper at $219.95.
In Australia, they’ll be available through JB Hi-Fi, EB Games and Razer’s own online store.
