Gaming peripheral brand Razer is setting up office in Taiwan with an expansion that sees the company take over a 20-person systems design team in the Asian country. The new centre adds to Razer’s research and development portfolio, on top of its San Francisco and Singapore design centres and its Texas research centre.
“Taiwan is a key market for us globally and we see immense growth potential here. This office will provide us a base to expand our business globally while providing boundless opportunities for us to expand our world-class design teams from the deep talent pool available here,” said Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan.
With a focus on innovation, the new Taiwan team has been picked out from a crowd that has worked on projects like Microsoft’s Origami and Intel’s UrbanMax concept device.
The new office will open for operation in September, with aims to expand to over 100 employees by 2012.
The team will work on ultra-mobile computer engineering and other ‘complete systems’ like the Switchblade gaming netbook concept created by Razer’s San Francisco design team.
