Razer and Xiaomi have officially entered the gaming monitor market segment, with the tech companies announcing new products; however, only one monitor may make it to Western markets.
Already well known for its gaming peripherals from keyboards, mice and headsets, Razer’s unveiling of the Razer 27 gaming monitor at CES has now led to the launch of the companies first gaming monitor, available now from Razer’s website for US$699.99.
The Razer Raptor 27-inch gaming monitor sports a bezel-less a 2560x1440p resolution, 144Hz refresh rate as well as support for HDR, AMD’s FreeSync technology and G-Sync.
Featuring a 90-degree tilt back display for easy cable management and I/O management, the Raptor 27 allows for a cleaner, minimal desk set up.
Controllable through the Razer Synapse 3 application, the monitor comes with the all-important Chroma RGB lighting effects, as well as brightness and contrast settings.
Xiaomi, however, has barely tipped their toe in the swimming pool that is the gaming market.
Their 34-inch Mi Surface curved display offers a resolution of 3440 x 1440 pixels, 144Hz refresh rate, and a 4ms GTG response time.
While the product is geared towards multimedia consumers looking to get immersed in the cinematic, its gaming capabilities cannot be denied.
Coupled with AMD’s FreeSync Technology and 121% coverage of the sRGB colour gamut, the monitor is sure to impress the Chinese market, where it is currently on sale for ¥2,500.
Unfortunately, it seems unlikely for the new monitor to arrive in Western markets, let alone even Australia.
The same can be said for the rather basic 23.3-inch 1080p display Xiaomi Monitor, also released alongside their gaming monitor.
