The world’s first high-end Omniguide-based loudspeaker has arrived in Australia.
Ominguide technology was developed by the chief engineer of Mirage five years ago. It allows speakers to radiate sound in a uniform 360-degree radiation pattern, which mimics sound in nature for a realistic sound stage.
Mirage has spent years refining the technology and the result is the OM Design Series, a range of high-end home theatre speakers.
All models in the range use carbon fibre in the woofer and midrange. The flagship model is the OMD-28, a floorstander that comes in a hand-made wood veneer.
The OMD-28 boasts dual eight-inch multilayer woven carbon fibre woofers, one 5.25-inch multilayer carbon fibre/fiberglass midrange with under hung motor system and a 28mm titanium dome tweeter.
There is also the OMD-15, which is a 40-inch high, three-way design in a high-gloss cabinet.
The OMD-C1 and OMD-C2 are three-way centre speakers, while the OMD-5 and the OMD-R are surround sound speakers.
