If you saw the pictures of the thousands of Samsung Note 7’s wired up for testing during Samsung’s recent press conference and wondered what would happen to all those handsets, wonder no longer.A new report out of the Korean Hankyung
says that, rather than throw them into landfill or simply destroy the
2.5 million units returned in the recall, Samsung will be refurbishing
the phablet with safer, leaner batteries and a new case.
The new battery is said to have a capactity of between 3000 and 3200mAh, slightly under the original Note 7’s 3500mAh.
However, this news does come with a catch. This “new” unconfirmed
variant of Note 7 will likely only be available in the Vietnam or Indian
market.
