This has just been confirmed by Toshiba Australia who now say ‘Tablet AT100’ will launch here “at the end of the month.”
The Toshiba features a 10.1 inch HD multi touch, LED widescreen screen (1280 x800), powered by NVIDIA Tegra 2 and runs Android Honeycomb 3.0, to give a “a crisp image experience” says its makers.
It also boasts dual high-resolution cameras, (2MP front-facing webcam and 5MP rear) 1GB RAM, a litany of ports including full-sized and mini USB and HDMI ports (all in a discreet hatch), card reader supporting SD, SDHC and SDXC as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth.
As we reported yesterday, Tablet, known as Thrive in the US, means business and offers far more hardware than the iPad 2 could ever dream of.
Tablet also comes pre-loaded with Toshiba Media Player which enables streaming of music and videos to a DLNA wi-fi enabled TV and Resolution+ technology enhancing videos by up scaling and increasing the resolution of the original source.
And it is superior to the market darling, the iPad 2, Toshiba insists, with superior hardware specs as well as sound performance including stereo sound that is enhanced by SRS Labs surround sound enhancements. And priced at $579, it is to go head to head with its rivals on pricing too, with identical pricetags.
“The AT100 “offers a number of stand-out features to give consumers the ultimate choice in connected convenience and importantly offers more features than other similar products in the market,” said Mark Whittard, Toshiba Managing Director.

This is a shock since the Honeycomb device and Toshiba first attempt at a tablet only saw the light of day this week at Computex in LA.
The Honeycomb 3.0 tab also comes with accessories including colourful removable back covers pattern in Silver Sky, Blue Moon, Green Apple, Rasberry Fusion and Lavender Bliss colours as wel as accessories including multi dock with HDMI $89.95 RRP, removable battery pack ($79.95) and a portfolio case ($49.95).
The multi dock in particular looks to be a very handy companion for AT100, with a full-size HDMI port to connect to an HDTV or LCD monitor, two USSB 2.0 ports and a 3.5mm stereo audio port.
