Sony Computer Entertainment has seen both profits and revenues plunge in Australia as consumers switch from console games to smartphone, PC and tablet gaming.In 2012 SCE Australia, who sells the struggling Sony PlayStation, reported that revenue had plunged from $233,480,000 in 2011 to $176,282,000 million in 2012.
Profits have also slumped more than 23% to $3,516,000 from a high of $4,664,000 in 2011.
The Company is refusing to talk about their sales and profit plunge.
On Friday Microsoft reported that their Xbox Entertainment & Devices Division posted a 16% decline in revenue from the prior period due to a soft gaming console market.
Xbox remained the top-selling console in the U.S. for the 15th consecutive month.
A new PlayStation Store layout that was released last week in Australia and New Zealand has major issues according to angry PlayStation owners hitting forums.
Sony has admitted that they have issues with the release of the new PlayStation Store, causing an inconvenience for some users and resulting in the US launch being delayed. No new date has been set for the US launch which was due on the 23rd of October.
