Following the release of Apple’s most expensive smartphone, the iPhone X, it’s understandable why many men want a durable and stylish case for their tenth-anniversary device – as such, welcome Mujjo’s Full Leather Wallet Case for iPhone X (Black), which claims to offer both style and substance.
Performance
Generally, iPhone cases fall into three categories – inexpensive, ultra- protection or premium/luxury. Mujjo’s iPhone X Wallet Case falls primarily in the premium category – its leather outer has a very nice, luxury, look and feel.
Many phone case manufacturers emphasise protection, rooted in the understanding replacing an iPhone X screen can cost $800+, compared to a $50-75 case.
The screen edge of Mujjo’s case is protected with leather, and should, therefore, be okay if it bumps off a couch onto a carpeted floor – however I am too afraid to drop and test such protection, mostly because I just can’t see it surviving a real-life fall.
The stitched wallet on the back of the case can hold two business cards (or one credit/Opal card) – two cards if you really squeeze it, but I would suggest you don’t.
It’s a nice, sleek pouch that doesn’t add bulk, and provides easy to use functionality for tap-and-go convenience.
Design
Mujjo’s Full Leather iPhone X Wallet Case is certainly a thing of beauty – you can see quality craftsmanship in every aspect of its design.
The leather is soft, and clearly premium.
Inserting an iPhone X into the case is a bit tight, and even more tough to remove, however, once in, stays there for a long time.
Volume buttons and the power button are covered in leather, while the mute button is exposed.
I had no problem pressing any of these, even wearing motorcycle gloves.
Mujjo explains the craftsmanship of their cases in great detail on their website, including the use of vegetable tanned leather, treated with aniline oil.
Value
At A$75, Mujjo ‘s Full Leather Wallet Case is priced in the realm of high-end iPhone X cases.
However, premium quality full-grain leather doesn’t come cheap, and if you rarely drop your phone, it could be a nice investment.
It’s a pity to criticise largely on price, however, if Mujjo can ensure their next version includes military-grade drop protection – like many other rival case manufacturers – my rating would go up dramatically.

High-grade drop protection is the biggest missing feature absent from the iPhone X case – but frankly, Mujjo is not chasing rugged durability for their target market.
