Research In Motion makers of the Blackberry phone are believed to be behind the Apple ‘Wake Up’ protest and not Samsung as first thought. The protesters who wore black T Shirts which is more Blackberry than Samsung have refused to say who paid for them to protest; however, Macworld has examined the source code within the Wake Up online marketing program and discovered a Double Click URL that has ties to the RIM Australia.
Arno Lenior, Marketing Director of Samsung Electronics Australia denies his Company’s involvement in the publicity stunt.
“It’s great to know we’re front of mind with parts of the media as well as a good few bloggers when it comes to discussing campaigns like “Wake Up”. As a market leader in smartphones we think Australians have already woken up to the multitude of choices available, but kudos to whoever is behind the campaign –
Macworld also points out that the man who captured the video of black-clad protesters outside the Apple Store has worked with RIM in the past, to promote the failed PlayBook tablet.
