Amazon owned home security manufacturer, Ring, has released its new smart ‘Door View Cam’ in Australia (A$299), taking on the likes of Arlo, Nest, and Swann.
The Ring Door View Cam is a wire-free video doorbell that transforms a users’ traditional door viewer into a smart security device, and is compatible with Alexa devices.
The product is available to purchase now from JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Bing Lee and Bunnings, plus from Amazon Australia.
The device claims to be easy to install in place of an existing door peephole, and does not require drilling/permanent modifications.
The product is marketed as perfect for apartments, townhouses and rental homes, and marks Ring’s fifth video doorbell.
The 1080p device offers HD video, a removable battery, knock detection, night vision and privacy zones.
“With the launch of Ring Door View Cam in Australia, Ring now offers a video doorbell for nearly every type of home,” claims Mark Fletcher, Ring Managing Director APAC.
“Those who live in walk-up style apartments or even townhouses can now keep an eye on their front door, ensuring they never miss a delivery person, friends and family arriving, or unwanted visitors.”
“Coupled with an indoor or outdoor Stick Up Cam, which was released earlier this year, renters or homeowners can now keep an eye on every access point to their apartment or townhouse, especially when they are away from home.”
