The new cameras that will debut at PMA are: EX1, a high-end camera with a 24mm ultra-wide angle Schneider Kreuznach lens; and the WB2000, a camera that can simultaneously take HD video and photos.
The Samsung EX1 has an f/1.8 Schneider lens that offers a wider range of aperture steps and shallow depth-of-field. The camera also allows users to take better photos in low-light environments as more light is passed through to the new high-performance 1/1.7″ CCD sensor. The Schneider lens offers a 24mm, ultra-wide focal length and 3x optical zoom. For blur free images, the EX1’s lens is also paired with Samsung’s Dual Image Stabilisation technology.
The Samsung EX1 has a three-inch, swivelling AMOLED screen to help users take overhead or low-to-the-ground shots. The Samsung EX1 supports RAW and gives enthusiasts full control over their images, thanks to its shutter priority, aperture priority and full Manual shooting modes. The EX1 also offers Samsung’s Smart Auto 2.0 (Still & Movie) scene recognition technology.
Samsung’s Digital AV Marketing Manager, Sagar Dave said, “For the first time in a compact body, the bright ultra-wide angle capability and unparalleled speed of the EX1’s lens offers a new level of versatility, allowing the user to be more creative by taking better pictures from a broad range of perspectives. The bright ultra-wide angle lens also enables photographers to capture some amazing imagery in a range of low light conditions.”

In addition to the EX1, Samsung has also launched the WB2000, a camera that can take 10 mega-pixel stills while simultaneously recording full HD videos. It offers a maximum video recording speed of 1,000 frames-per-second (fps) and has a burst mode capable of capturing 10 full size digital stills per second. It also comes with an Advanced Panorama Shot with Object Tracking feature that lets a photographer track a specific object during the sweep of a panoramic shot.
The Samsung WB2000 features a 1,000 fps, high-speed video recording mode that can be used to reveal details of a fast moving event in super slow motion, has a 24mm ultra wide angle Schneider Kreuznach lens with 5x optical zoom, and Dual Image Stabilisation technology.
It also has a three-inch AMOLED screen, supports RAW shooting, and offers Smart or Manual control. When set to Manual, users can experiment with features such as slower shutter speeds, depth-of-field and even focus.
The Samsung EX1 is available this month for $599. The WB2000 will be available starting next month for $449.
