V-Moda’s Crossfade LP is a solid pair of headphones that comes with a lot of extras to help you enjoy music on your iPod, PC, and other audio devices.

The Crossfade LP is stored inside an exoskeleton case. Also found inside are two Kevlar reinforced detachable cables (3.5mm audio cable and cable with inline mic/volume and control for the iPhone 3GS, iPod, iPad, and MacBook), a 6.3mm to 3.5mm adapter, and carabiner clip – all tucked into pouches with elastic bands.
Besides the one year warranty, the company also offers a Replay Replacement Program that allows a user to purchase another pair of headphones (should the headset get wrecked) for 50 per cent off.
The Crossfade LP has a different look and feel to it, which may not be everyone’s cup of tea. It has a ‘rugged V design that beats ordinary round headphones’, a ‘tank-like’ steel frame, crocodile etchings on the ear cups surrounded by mini bolts, and even a crocodile-skin embossed headband with a royal purple accent (inside).

Despite these specifications, we are happy to say that the unit is lightweight and very comfortable to use for prolonged periods. In addition, the foam ear cushions were able to isolate noise, allowing us to enjoy our music without much distraction. The only ‘problem’ we found with the unit is that it cannot be folded down, thus making it bulky.
We connected the Crossfire LPs to various sources and played a couple of tracks to test its audio quality. While the unit delivered clear highs and mids, we found that the LP truly shines when bass-heavy tracks are played.
If you like to listen to other genres however, then we suggest you adjust the settings on your source to reduce the bass or increase the treble. This will bring more balance to tracks and help you appreciate the headphones.
Those who want to control their iPod or talk to somebody on their iPhone can use the fabric cable that comes with a 3-button remote with inline microphone. A user can adjust the volume and play/pause a music track.
Overall, the V-Moda Crossfade LP is for users who want a headphone that stands out and can give them that deep-thumping bass. Users who want something more balanced should look elsewhere as there are other headphones out there that can give you better mids and highs.
